Routine Dentistry
Most of us will be used to a quite 'piece-meal' approach to dentistry. Whole Mouth Dentistry focuses on the inter-relatedness of different dental or medical issues. For example you may have a number of chipped or broken teeth. You may suffer headaches. We could treat these 'symptoms' individually and this is the most common approach; or we could look for a common cause. Bruxism has been know to result in both.
Problems of the Jaw
We use the techniques of neuromuscular dentistry which aims reposition the jaw to an optimum position. If we do this then we can help relieve some of the symptoms that occur as the result of strain or trauma to the joint between the jaw and the skull (TMJ)
These associated symptoms may include:
Gum Disease
Gum disease is prevalent. However it can be asymptomatic until very drastic remedial treatment is required. This means that the patient may not have experienced adverse symptoms - up to the point of examination. If we do not treat gum disease as soon as it is noticed and wait for noticeable symptoms to occur - pain; the amount of tissue destroyed will make the consequent repair work more extensive than necessary.
The Whole Mouth Dentistry Process
As with all consultations we start by making a thorough examination. All initial consultations are carried out personally by Professor Szabo and are provided free of charge and without any obligation. This will include either a panoramic x-ray or a CT scan (you will be asked to pay for this) so that we can clearly see the condition of all your teeth and the bone into which they are set.
We will of course pay particular attention to the issues that concern you, but in addition we will identify and list all the issues affecting your dentition and oral health that you need to be aware of.
Subject to what we find we may also need to make a wax model of your teeth so that we can plan a step by step approach to your treatment.
Following our very thorough examination we will discuss our findings with you in depth: what needs to be done, what the costs are and what your priorities may be. You can make an informed decision about what you want to do.
No one will pressure you to have treatment with us if you don't want to. If, however, you were to allow about a week for your visit, we could probably make a good start on the actual treatment if you do decide you want to have it done at our clinic.
Remote Diagnosis
It may not however be necessary for you to travel to Hungary If you have had a recent panoramic x-ray or CT scan which you can email us this will be sufficient to give you preliminary advice.
If not then, and if London, England is convenient for you we can arrange for you to have a CT scan in Central London (The West End) at an independent imaging centre. They will email the results to us and it will give us a complete 3D image of your teeth. From that we will be able to tell you precisely what is needed and exactly what it will cost.
If you would like us to arrange for you to have a CT scan please follow this link and complete our online form.
