Important Issues When Shopping for Implants

Implant Prices
Making a comparison of costs is the first thing most people do when selecting the clinic at which they will have their dental implants fitted. This task is however harder than they might think. It is as though rival clinics actually set out to make a 'like for like' cost comparison difficult. The cost of the implant is only part of what you will need to pay.

Implant Components
There are actually three components you need to know about: the dental implants themselves, the 'abutment' and the crown. It is only when you add all three prices together that you will find the probable cost of having your dental implants fitted. It is quite common for dental clinics to advertise a low price for the implants, but when the abutment and crown costs are added then the result can be surprisingly high.

You need to be interested in to 'Total Cost' of your dental implants restoration.

Brands of Implant
To confuse matters even further many clinics will offer a number of different implant systems and it is implied that you might have a choice as to which one you buy. In truth however your oral surgeon will tell you which implant is most appropriate for your personal circumstances. It won't always be the cheapest in the range of dental implants they advertised.

You would be quite wrong to assume that the most expensive 'brand' of implant is always the best. Different implant types are more suitable for particular circumstances than others. Your implant surgeon must advise you on this choice.

Surgery
Not all clinics include the surgeon's time when they advertise a cost for implants. You need to make sure there will be no such hidden extras.

The Surgeon
Sadly, not all implant surgeons have the same level of expertise. Studies into why Dental Implants sometimes fail repeatedly show the skill and experience of the implant surgeon as being one of the key features of a successful implant operation.

Professor Szabo is one of Europe's most eminent Implant specialists. He set his first Implant in 1978 and over the past thirty years has increasingly specialised in this area of dentistry. He also acts as a consultant to leading manufacturers of Dental Implant components. The Professor will either provide or oversee the operation to set your dental implants. His skill, experience and dedication are your assurance of a successful outcome.

Dr Mühl is the established Hungarian expert for the USA based 'Implants Direct' company and provides training, technical and practical support for dentists throughout Hungary in the use of this implant system.

Bone deficiencies
A good quality and quantity of bone is needed to withstand the dynamic forces inside the mouth. When teeth have been lost or when there have been gum problems this can lead to lead to a loss of bone. There are procedures to compensate for this. They are performed during the implantation operation, but do increase the overall costs.

Augmentation and Sinus Lifts
An augmentation procedure may be necessary to ensure successful implantation. This can be done during the implantation operation and so probably won't increase your time away from home. It will however increase the cost of your treatment.
There are no reliable 'rules of thumb' as to who will and who will not need bone augmentation and the only way to be sure is through an x-ray. If you have a recent 'panoramic x-ray' you can send us a copy as an email attachment for Professor Szabo's evaluation. The Professor will then send you a reliable personal quotation.

Bone Grafting
Our Prices
Bone Augmentation     £420
Sinus Lift     £600

Multiple Restoration
Where multiple adjacent teeth are to be restored this may be done using a bridge. In this case you may not need one implantation for each tooth.  Replacing three teeth using a bridge may come to a total of only £1590 and not £2190 as might be thought from a price list.

Spreading the costs
We are often asked if we operate a pay by instalments scheme. We have investigated these and find that we would need to increase our base prices to fund them.

We do accept payment by credit or debit card but our banks impose handing fees which again mean we have to make a surcharge of 2.5% in the case of Visa and MasterCard and 3.5% for Amex.

However, implantation is a two step process. You first need the implantation operation after which we need to allow time for the implant to be integrated into you jaw bone.  After a healing period of 4 - 6 months you need to return for the new crown to be fitted.

You do not need to pay the whole fee at one time. You pay for the work done during each visit. If you do not need grafting therefore this will work out at about 70% for the first visit and 30% for the second.

Obviously, if you need grafting these figures will change.
